Rita Pessanha

She was born in Porto, where she lives and works. She attended the Free Course on Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Port, between 1983 and 1985 and later she attended the degree on Painting at the same school.

She participated in the XVIII Experiência de Sargadelos Tecnologia e Escuela Libre de Cerâmica – Spain 1989. She was awarded an Honourable Mention and the Acquisition Prize at Casino de Estoril’s “Salão de Primavera” in 1989. She is present in the following books: “Aspectos das Artes Plásticas em Portugal”; “Arte Jovem Pintura do Casino Estoril”; “Arte 98”.

She participated in the painting workshop: XI Bienal Internacional de Arte Vila Nova de Cerveira 2001 “ Arte Tecnologia e Ciência”. She was awarded the Prémio Jovem (artes digitais) Instituto Português da Juventude“ (Ex-Aequo) at the XII Bienal Internacional De Arte De Vila Nova De Cerveira with the artwork “O Artista e a Globalização – o seu papel como ator social” (2003).

She holds collective exhibitions since 1986 and individual one since 1989.
