Portuguese painter (1931), he attended the degree on painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, having graduated with an average of 20, thus joining the group of the “Four Twenties” (all of them graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto with an average of 20).
Between the 60’s and 80’s, his art stand out from his academic schooling and evolved to a geometric abstract research, even though he abandoned it in the series Reis (1973-1974) and Mapas (1976). In 1977 he returned to pictorial figuration in Drawing and, in 1980, in Painting, maintaining, however, an interest on geometry. His unique painting, characterised by Neoclassical and Baroque references, by a “cold” expressivity and by the execution of figurative drawings, so many times awarded, has been exhibited in and outside the country. Nowadays he cooperates with architects and landscapers and illustrates literary works.
