Gilbert Artaud

French painter, he was born in 1934. He was a textile designer for the Parisian Haute Couture for several years. Excited with the great impressionists, his work is influenced by them. Fascinated by the views of the Dombes, it is here where he gets inspiration to execute his paintings, watercolours and lithographs. In his artworks, he recreates the environment of tranquillity and the dreamlike landscapes of this region. He will always be remembered as the “sensitive colourist” reporter of his journeys. His dead natures, which approach to the expressionist stroke, stand out.
