Belkiss Oliveira

Belkiss Oliveira was born in Oporto, in 1964, where she currently lives. She holds exhibitions since 2005 in Portugal and, since 2009 in Spain. She works on wood, putting boards on the floor and circulating around them, while applying layers of dye on layers “pouring or throwing them literally onto the surfaces, in a ritualistic attitude, what she intends to value is the freedom of her gesture”, as it was written by Ana Luísa Barão with regard to an exhibition the artist held in Oporto, in 2010.
