American sculptor (1898-1976), renowned for large scale sculptures, production of numerous wire figures and, mainly, for the invention of mobiles, an abstract model of sculptures with moving pieces, propelled by motors or by the natural force of air streams. Its rotating parts create a visual experience of dimensions and shapes in constant balance.
